Rooted in the New York rap scene and gangsta rap traditions, he is considered one of the greatest rappers of all time. The Notorious B.I.G. became known for his distinctive laidback lyrical delivery, offsetting the lyrics' often grim content and his own intimidating appearance. His music was often semi-autobiographical, telling of hardship and criminality, but also of debauchery and celebration. Andre Louis Hicks (July 5, 1970 – November 1, 2004), better known by his stage name Mac Dre, was an American rapper, hip hop pioneer, and record producer based in Vallejo, California. He was instrumental in the emergence of hyphy, a cultural movement in the Bay Area hip hop scene that emerged in the early 2000s. Hicks is considered one of the movement's key pioneers that fueled its popularity into mainstream, and also the founded the independent record label Thizz Entertainment. Ermias Joseph Asghedom (August 15, 1985 – March 31, 2019), known professionally as Nipsey Hussle, was an American rapper, activist, and entrepreneur. Emerging from the West Coast hip hop scene in the mid-2000s, he is considered one of the most influential artists of today's generation. Hussle opened his very own storefront, "The Marathon Clothing Store", on June 17th 2017 which created various jobs in his community. He wanted to focus on "giving solutions and inspiration" to young black men like him. Hussle funded improvements to neighborhood schools and spent time with students, also participating on panels about growing up in the area and the influence of gang culture.
